First let me apologize. I know it has been a few days since our last post. I am taking care of a baby and we have been without internet. Please know I do try to post a few times a week.
Friday is the day we have been waiting for. Liam will have his CT scan. We will know next week if he will be having surgery or going on the transplant list. Please be thinking of Liam Friday morning, praying for the tumor to be responding favorably. The doctors already know from feeling his stomach that the tumor is shrinking, but we need it to come away from the blood supply to the liver. The CT will show us that.
Good News. Liam gained 3.5 oz this week. He has been eating more fingerfoods, and drank 11 oz in his bottle today. We need more ideas of what to feed a 10 month old, with no teeth. He likes the 'hard' things; cereal, little crunchies, puffs, biter biscuits. He has refused anything soft or mushy; steamed fruits and veggies.
We tried grill cheese today. He mostly played with it, but got a little in his mouth. What else should I try that he can eat?
We will be thinking about him for sure! Glad that he is eating better and gaining back a little bit! Have you tried giving him pieces of fresh fruit (not too mushy but easy to chew). We just started this with Ollie and he loves it. Watermelon, Canteloupe, Honeydew, etc. (but not strawberries because of potential allergies).
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear he is gaining weight - such a good sign. Will be thinking of y'all on Friday - best of luck. Have you tried al dente pasta? He could eat small bits with no teeth and you could put a cheesy sauce on it (think mac and cheese that isn't overcooked and cut up into swallowable bits).
ReplyDeletewill be thinking especially of Liam on Friday. x
ReplyDeleteSo happy to hear Liam is putting on a little weight and that things are looking positive with the tumor shrinking. It's tough to think of foods for kids! Pasta is a good idea! And Jennifer mentioned fresh fruit like different kinds of melons which my girls love. Have you tried avacadoes? What about hot dogs (cut up into tiny pieces)....Or there are those Gerber Meat Sticks....Those things are so gross, but he might like them! Hugs to you all!
ReplyDeleteThought of another one - goldfish - Fiona loves them. I haven't thought about buying them for her but she got some at the doc's office recently and chowed down. If he can eat biter biscuits I think the goldfish would be another good choice.
ReplyDeleteDimitri loves American cheese. It's soft enough to pretty much melt in their mouths. If you haven't tried Baby Yo yet (organic baby yogurt where you find other yogurts at the grocery store), you must. Dimitri refuses most mushy things these days as well but he LOVES the yogurt. Praying for your family and thinking about you daily.
ReplyDeleteKeeping in mind that my kids are weird, they all liked dill pickle spears, even before they had teeth. French fries or tater tots are also good. You can bake them to be crispy enough to intrigue him but soft enough to not be a raging choking hazard.
