September is almost over

Is it June yet? Or I would settle for December winter break!

2 Days left in September- Charlotte area have you visited a good cookie yet? Tomorrow its Mr. K's on South Blvd and Friday is City Art Works on Woodlawn.

I have heard there are troubles of more than one kind. Some come from ahead and some come from behind. But I have brought a big bat. I'm all ready you see. Now my troubles are going to have troubles with me.

Remember this Seuss quote? Seussical the musical is in Charlotte. I hope to win some tickets from Modern Parent. Liam probably won't understand, but I think it would be great therapy for us to see the Dr. Seuss quotes I used during chemo as something happy.

Blue Ridge Relay

As most of you know, Brian and I recently ran The Blue Ridge Relay. It was AWESOME! 208 miles, 6 smelly friends in a van, Dawn the only one getting any sleep! Yup I can sleep anywhere, probably why I was the first one to say I would absolutely do it again.

AHHH FALL

My favorite season has arrived... at least for the weekend.

Cool weather, football, pumpkin cookies, hot chocolate, hayrides, sweaters and boots. Okay, maybe not the boots. These feel will be in flippers until snow covers the ground!

I just love the crisp smell of fall air. Curling up with a warm beverage and watching and movie (I smell a wasil recipe coming). On friday, I had to overwhelming urge to watch Back to the Future; unfortunately (and fortunately) Liam does not like television or movies yet.

So instead how about a naptime craft. Honestly, I don't follow patterns for anything that I make, but I do find inspiration on the internet. No original ideas as of yet, SORRY!

Today the inspiration came from Take Heart.

How cute is this fall wreath. I cannot wait to hang it on my door!

What's your favorite part of fall?

How have you honored?

I use the work honored, because I don't feel celebrated fits.
How many of you knew September was childhood cancer awareness month? I can't say I would have if our situation wasn't what it is.
At the Southern Woman's Show this past weekend we ran into the cookies for cancer booth, when they asked if we had heard of the organization I told them my son was a patient at Blume. The worker didn't even know how to speak to me.
That bothers me. I don't want anyone to feel bad for us. I love my son, I love my family. I would not trade our situation for another child.
If childhood cancer was a more "publicized" conversation, people would know how to speak with families.
So my question to you is, how have you supported childhood cancer awareness?

Remberance

For the husband who told his wife I love you one last time before his plane went down in a field
For the wife who stopped in the stairs to call her husband to say I will love you forever
For the mothers and fathers who kissed their kids goodbye the morning they died
For the policemen who rushed in with the firemen to help get others out only to die themselves
For the soldiers who fought back and lost their lives.
Today, Tomorrow, Ten years from now, we will remember!!

Cookies for Cancer

Cookies for Cancer is a nonprofit started in honor of another little boy names Liam. Shocked and inspired by the fact that 25% of children with cancer do not survive was from lack of effective therapies (ie funding). Started with a "larger than life" bake sale, cookies for cancer raises money for pediatric cancer research.

The Charlotte Cookies for Cancer group has teamed up with businesses all around Charlotte for the month of September. Below you will find a Calendar, please try to visit these places to support Cookies For Cancer!

My Liam will thank you!
