Doctor! Doctor!

Taking Liam to the doctors with me has not been convenient at all.  He climbs all over the furniture in the waiting room, spins the doctor's chair, demands his own cup to pee in...  The list could go on.

But it has been beneficial for him.  At his last ultrasound he layed right down on the table, to restraints needed this time.

Yesterday Liam had his 3 year check up at the Pediatrician (only 3 months late, not bad...)
We were surprised to learn he is finally all caught up on his shots, but he did need some bloodwork.
His lipid tests came back elevated earlier this month, so the oncologist asked we redo the test while fasting.  Since his checkup was a morning appointment, we had the test done at the pediatrician's office.

Good news first- Liam did not even cry when they took his blood
Bad news- Lipids are still elevated.

My underweight child is having cholesterol problems.  We are told his is a side effect from the chemo.  Although we continue to struggle with what Liam eats, we do try to keep his food options as healthy as possible.  He continues to eat large varieties of fruits and yogurts, and carbs in crackers and waffles.  As he does not regularly (or ever) eat fast food or greasy food, the doctor does not see a need to try to change his diet, he will just need more frequent monitoring with the cardiologist (still waiting to hear what that will look like).

When we got home yesterday, Liam had a great time playing doctor himself.

He checked his baby sister over well, looking at her and listening to her
Then finally deciding she needed some shots.

2 YEARS CANCER FREE

Liam's doctor called this one of the biggest milestones to date in his recovery.  2 YEARS!!

I scheduled all the appointments I could into Thursday.

We started at the hospital at 7am for Liam's ultrasound.  He rocked it!  I am so proud of him, it usually involves me holding him down, but this time he climbed right up onto the table and layed down.

We went home for short time so I could drink my tasty glucose solution

Then we were off to my doctor's for bloodwork and an ultrasound

Next we went straight to the oncology clinic.  Liam got his blood taken like a champ.  Okay, there were a few tears, but what do you expect?

To celebrate we got to hang out with some Olympic swimmers.  Liam got a few autographed photographs and even held a gold medal.

After a quick lunch we were off to the cardiologist.  Liam has to have an echo done every year for the rest of his life, one side effect of chemo was thinning of the heart wall, so far there is no evidence of that!

It was a sucessful day of appointments... not sure I will ever schedule that many again in one day!

28 Weeks

Yup... thats my view this week.

We get to see Baby Girl again tomorrow.  Unfortunately I also have to take the glucose test in the morning. YUCK!

So 3rd Trimester.

Terrible heart burn hasn't gone anywhere.

My fingers are beginning to swell... but I refuse leave my rings off-- I took them off one night when I was pregnant with Liam, the cat got on my dresser when I was sleeping and my rings were lost for 6 months.  Not doing that again!

Baby should be about the size of a head of cabbage

My mood... it has been commented on by a coworker she thought it was crazy how calm I am pregnant... I guess she expected mood swings.  However I am beginning to feel way too emotional, I attribute this to 20 school days left this year- I cannot wait for this to be over!

Hoping we can finally start on the nursery soon (HINT HINT BRIAN).

Liam is getting excited.  On his way to bed last night, he walked by his old room and declared "That's where my baby sister's going to sleep"

What do you do?

I came across this challenge online this weekend; blog everyday in May.  I obviously am slightly late to the party, and not exactly planning on following along, but it had some fun topics.  Today's topic: If you couldn't answer with your job, how would you answer the question, 'what do you do'?

Well this week just happens to be teacher appreciation week, and one of my co-workers posted this on facebook this morning.  Yes, it does mention being a teacher, but also everything else that is required with the job description.

Baby Dreams

Pregnancy Dreams.
Supposed to be a normal part of pregnancy, but I never had them with Liam.  Last night was my first official pregnancy dream.

I dreamed I had the baby... And she was a BOY!  of course that's not the part that scares Brian, he is more afraid that I had the baby and its not time yet.  But my dream didn't have a time frame, no fear.

Thankfully I have another ultrasound coming up this week, so we will be able to make sure she is still a she.

Here is a quick picture of me I took last weekend (I'm still a week behind!  I will catch up... {maybe})

I am feeling good.  I have been sleeping more this week, not necessarily feeling any more tired, just falling asleep earlier than usual.

80 more days of being a human incubator!
